An album of drum duos. When Conor Elmes presented this idea to me, I knew it would be a lot of fun. I was unsure, however, about how it would play out. I have only played with a handful of drummers and never in a situation where the drums were featured let alone the only instruments.

On a rainy day in February, we got together for the session. As is often the case when I play, we got right to it with minimal hanging out. It would be nice to talk and catch up since we rarely see each other much these days and haven't played together in five or six years, but you catch up very quickly once the music starts. Conor plays a lot and makes a living with music. I am more of a musical hermit or outsider. We both have a great need to play, to improvise, to experience the ecstasy of playing such a primitive and physical instrument, and to share our joy.

It has been a great honor to play with such a great drummer and friend. Please enjoy.
